Without Jesus dying on the cross for your sins to be forgiven and the resurrection symbolizing eternal life, nothing else matters

Many think it’s a bad idea for Christians to go to bars or nightclubs

Yes

Christians should avoid bars and nightclubs. The temptation to commit sin is all around and alcohol can add fuel to the fire.

It’s ok for Christians to go to bars or nightclubs. Jesus spent time with the lowest of the low and it is an opportunity to be the light in a dark world.

Besides the fact that Jesus Christ never condemned alcohol, there are instances in the Bible where the people are expressly directed to take wine. One is Deuteronomy 14 where the law on tithes is given and explained: “22 You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year.

Alcohol or wine consumption may lead to problems like drunkenness.

As long as it is not idle or frivolous and do not make the whole sermon unethical to listeners.

Jokes may become unfitting and might lead the listeners to have different interpretations

Many evangelical churches celebrate communion periodically – monthly or quarterly.

Yes

Weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper allows us to come together in unity through Christ and fellowship in an intimate manner through the worship of Jesus Christ. This purifies the body weekly.

There’s no clear command in Scripture as to how often we’re to receive the Lord’s Supper and for this reason, many churches have decided not to offer it weekly because they don’t want it to become routine or lose its special status.
