FAITH IN THE FROZEN SEASON: TRUSTING GOD WHEN IT’S COLD AND YOU’RE TIRED
February 3, 2026 | Monday Morning

If you woke up this morning and immediately wanted to crawl back under the covers because it’s cold—whether you’re staring out at snowdrifts in the Midwest or wondering why Florida feels like the Arctic—I get it. Winter has a way of making everything feel heavier, slower, harder.

And let’s be honest, it’s not just about the weather.

Maybe you’re in a winter season spiritually too. The fresh energy of the new year has fizzled out. You’re tired. You’re showing up, but barely. You’re doing what needs to be done, but that spark? It’s just not there.

Friend, I see you. And more importantly, God sees you.

This is where faith gets real.

WHEN YOU’RE TOO TIRED TO SOAR

Isaiah 40:31 is one of those verses we love to quote:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

We love the idea of soaring, don’t we? Those mountaintop moments when everything feels light, and we’re flying high on faith. Running without getting tired? Yes, please!

But here’s the thing—most days, we’re not soaring. We’re not even running. Most days, we’re walking. Just putting one foot in front of the other, trying to get through the day.

And that’s okay. Because Isaiah 40:31 doesn’t just promise soaring or running. It also promises that “they will walk and not be faint.”

Not “you’ll never get tired.” Not “you’ll always feel inspired.”

But you won’t faint. You won’t collapse. You won’t quit.

God sustains us in the cold, heavy seasons.

WHAT WINTER TEACHES US ABOUT FAITH

Winter has a lot to teach us—both the kind that freezes your driveway and the kind that freezes your motivation. Here’s what I’ve learned:

  1. Winter looks dead, but life is growing underneath. Trees look barren, but they’re not dead. They’re preparing for spring. God is working in your life too, even when you can’t see the evidence. Your prayers? They’re not bouncing off the ceiling. Your faithfulness? Not wasted.
  2. Winter requires endurance, not excitement. You don’t have to feel inspired every day. You just have to keep showing up. Faithfulness matters more than feelings. God honors the walk, not just the soar.
  3. Winter reveals what’s real. When life is stripped down, you see what truly matters: your faith, your family, God’s presence. Winter has a way of clearing out the clutter and showing us what’s essential.
  4. Winter doesn’t last forever. Spring always comes. Your breakthrough will come too. God’s timing is perfect, even when it feels impossibly slow.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO SOAR TODAY

If you’re tired this Monday morning—if the cold has seeped into your bones and your soul feels a little frozen—let me tell you something important:

You don’t have to soar today.

You don’t even have to run.

Just walk.

Show up for work, even if you’re not feeling it. Love your family, even if you’re running on fumes. Pray, even if it’s just a whispered, “Help me, Jesus.”

Read one verse. Take one step. Do the next right thing.

That’s not failure. That’s faithfulness.

And God promises that when you hope in Him—when you keep walking, even when it’s hard—you won’t faint.

GOD SUSTAINS IN THE COLD SEASONS

Here’s the truth: most of our faith journey isn’t lived on mountaintops. It’s lived in the valleys. In the ordinary. In the cold, tired seasons where you’re just trying to get through the day.

But that’s exactly where God meets us.

He doesn’t just show up in the soaring moments. He sustains us in the slog.

He gives strength for the walk, not just the flight.

He renews us when we’re running on empty.

He holds us up when we can’t hold ourselves.

SPRING IS COMING

So today, whether you’re literally shivering through a winter storm or trudging through a hard season of life, remember this:

Winter doesn’t last forever.

Spring is coming.

Your breakthrough is coming.

God’s faithfulness never fails.

And until then? Just keep walking. He’ll give you the strength you need—not for the whole month, not for the year ahead, but for today.

And today is enough.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

“Lord, I’m tired. It’s cold—literally and spiritually. But I’m choosing to hope in You today. Renew my strength. Help me walk faithfully, even when I can’t soar. Remind me that You’re working, even when I can’t see it. Give me what I need for today. Just today. I trust You. Amen.”

ONE QUESTION TO CARRY TODAY:
What’s one small step of faithfulness I can take today, even if I don’t feel inspired?

You’ve got this. Not because you’re strong, but because He is.

Keep walking. Spring is coming. 💙
