“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
— Romans 8:28
As we step into this new day, let us hold tightly to the promise of Romans 8:28—a truth that assures us of God’s unwavering commitment to work all things for our good. It’s a verse many of us have heard countless times, yet its depth and power are worth revisiting.
What does it mean that God works “in all things” for our good? Does it mean life will always be easy or that we’ll never face challenges? Certainly not. Life is full of twists and turns, moments of joy and moments of struggle. But this verse reminds us that even in the chaos, God is at work. He is weaving together every thread of our lives—both the beautiful and the broken—into something purposeful and good.
The phrase “all things” is key here. It doesn’t say “some things” or “only the good things.” It says all things. That means the moments that feel like setbacks, the seasons of waiting, the heartaches that seem unbearable—God is using them all. He doesn’t waste a single experience.
This promise is not about ignoring pain or pretending that hardships don’t exist. It’s about trusting that God is sovereign, even when life doesn’t make sense. It’s about believing that He can take what feels like a mess and transform it into something meaningful.
But there’s a condition attached to this promise: “for those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” This isn’t a blanket statement for everyone; it’s a promise for those who are in relationship with God, who trust Him and seek to follow His will. Loving God and living according to His purpose opens the door for this divine work in our lives.
So, what does this look like in practice? It means surrendering our plans and trusting His. It means choosing faith when fear tries to take over. It means remembering that even when we can’t see the full picture, God does—and His plans are always good.
Today, whatever you’re facing, remind yourself of this truth: God is working. Even in the waiting, even in the wondering, even in the moments when you feel like giving up, He is moving. He is aligning circumstances, shaping your character, and preparing you for His purpose.
Take a moment to reflect on your life. Can you think of a time when something difficult eventually led to growth, healing, or unexpected blessings? Often, it’s only in hindsight that we see how God was working all along.
If you’re in a season of uncertainty right now, cling to this verse. Write it down. Say it out loud. Pray it over your life. Let it remind you that God is faithful, and His plans are far greater than anything we could imagine.
A Prayer for Today:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the promise that You are working all things for my good. Even when I don’t understand what You are doing, help me to trust Your purpose and Your plan. Give me the strength to love You wholeheartedly and to walk in obedience, knowing that You are always with me.
I surrender my worries, my fears, and my questions to You today. Work in my life, Lord. Take every moment—the joyful ones and the challenging ones—and use them for Your glory.
Thank You for being a God who never wastes a single thing. I trust You, and I love You.
Amen.
As you go about your day, hold onto this promise: God is working for your good. He sees you. He loves you. And He is faithful to complete the work He has started in you.
Have a blessed day.
