Daily Devotional: Do You Perceive It?

God is already moving.

That’s not a motivational pep talk. It’s not a feel-good platitude.

It’s the literal claim of Isaiah 43:19 — “now it springs up.”

Present tense. Active. Happening right now, whether you’re paying attention or not.

So the question God is asking you this morning isn’t, “Do you believe I can move?”

You’ve already answered that one.

The question is:

“Do you perceive what I’m already doing?”

📖 Today’s Scripture

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing — now it springs up, do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
— Isaiah 43:18-19

Reflection

There’s a unique kind of blindness that doesn’t come from disbelief.

It comes from staring too long at what used to be.

It’s not the blindness of someone who’s given up on God. It’s the blindness of someone who’s so focused on the former things — the old wounds, the old frameworks, the old version of how life was supposed to look — that they can’t see the stream forming right in front of them.

Here’s what God doesn’t say in Isaiah 43:

  • He doesn’t say the wilderness wasn’t real.
  • He doesn’t say the wasteland didn’t cost you something.

What He does say is this:

That’s not where the story ends.

The new thing is already springing up.

The way is already being made.

The stream is already moving through the dry ground.

Your job this morning isn’t to summon some superhuman level of faith.

Your job is simply to open your eyes to what’s already there.

The Honest Part

Here’s a hard truth: fear and faith can sound identical from the outside.

Both can say:

  • “I’m being careful.”
  • “I’m waiting for the right time.”
  • “I just need a little more clarity.”

The difference isn’t in the words. It’s in the heart.

  • Fear waits for a guarantee.
  • Faith moves because of a promise.

And here’s the thing about God: He’s never promised guarantees.

What He’s promised is Himself. And that’s infinitely better.

So if you’re standing at a threshold this morning — a decision, a conversation, a commitment, a next step — here’s the question to ask yourself:

Am I waiting because I need wisdom?

Or am I waiting because I’m afraid?

One of those is discernment. The other is delay.

 Today’s Prayer

Lord,

Open my eyes to what You are already doing.

I confess that I’ve been so focused on what was that I’ve almost missed what is.

Today, I choose faith over fear — not because the path is clear, but because You are already on it.

Lead me forward. I am paying attention.

Amen.

✝️ One Thing

Before the day gets loud, take a moment.

Find one place where you’ve been hesitating at an open door.

Not to analyze it. Not to build a pros and cons list.

Just — take one step through it today.

That’s all faith requires. One step.

And here’s the beautiful thing: once you take that step, the next one becomes clearer.

The stream is already forming.

Do you perceive it?
