It Started With A Seed
There’s something about the first day of Spring that doesn’t ask for attention—it just quietly changes everything.
The air feels different. The light stretches a little longer. And somehow, things that looked completely done… aren’t.
It’s subtle, but it’s undeniable.
And it kind of mirrors the way comebacks actually begin, which is almost never in the big, dramatic moment people imagine. It’s not the breakthrough. It’s not the applause. It’s not the part anyone posts about.
It’s the small start.
The decision that doesn’t feel like enough.
The step that feels almost too insignificant to matter.
The thing you’ve been holding onto, waiting for the right time to begin.
That’s the seed.
Not when everything is fixed. Not when the outcome is guaranteed. Just… when something small decides to keep going. Jesus once told a story about a mustard seed. It wasn’t a complicated story—it was almost too simple. In Matthew 13:31-32, He said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” The mustard seed, the tiniest seed you could lose between your fingers, is the one He chose to highlight. Not the largest seed, not the most impressive, not the one that already looked promising. The smallest, most unlikely seed.
And if the mustard seed taught anything, it’s this—God has never needed something big to grow something powerful. In fact, He seems to prefer the small, the overlooked, the things that don’t look like much at all in your hand.
Which is slightly inconvenient if you’ve been waiting to feel ready.
Because readiness isn’t the requirement.
Planting is.
There’s always that moment of hesitation, right before you start, where it would be easier to just hold onto it a little longer. Keep the idea safe. Keep the risk low. Tell yourself you’ll get to it eventually.
But nothing grows in your hand.
So maybe today isn’t about having a full plan or a guaranteed outcome. Maybe it’s just about choosing one small thing and putting it in motion.
One conversation.
One step.
One decision you’ve been circling for a while now.
That’s enough.
Because the part no one sees—the quiet, underground, nothing-looks-like-it’s-happening stage—that’s not where things stall.
That’s where they start.
And somehow, God has always done His best work there.
One small action. One decision that doesn’t look impressive on the outside. One step that could easily be overlooked. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” You don’t need to see the tree yet. You just need to plant the seed. God handles the growing.
So if this feels like your comeback season, even a little bit, don’t overthink it.
Just plant the seed.
He’ll handle the rest.
