Daily Devotional: He’s Always Right On Time

Scripture Reading:
“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”
— Habakkuk 2:3

Devotional Thought:

Have you ever felt like you’ve been waiting forever for God to answer a prayer? Maybe you’ve been praying for a breakthrough in your finances, a relationship to be restored, or healing in your body. You’ve done everything you know to do—prayed, fasted, trusted—and yet, it feels like nothing is happening.

If that’s where you are today, let me encourage you: You’re not alone, and you’re not forgotten.

In fact, you’re in good company. Just look at Abraham and Sarah. God promised them a child, but it took 25 years for that promise to come to pass. Can you imagine waiting that long? At one point, Sarah even laughed at the idea of having a baby because she thought it was impossible. But God wasn’t laughing—He was working. And when the time was right, He fulfilled His promise.

That’s the thing about God. He doesn’t operate on our timeline. He’s not in a rush, and He’s never late. He’s always right on time.

We see this pattern again and again in Scripture. Moses thought he was trapped at the Red Sea, but God parted the waters at just the right moment. The widow in Zarephath was preparing her last meal when God showed up and multiplied her oil and flour. Lazarus was in the tomb for four days—four days!—before Jesus raised him from the dead.

God specializes in showing up when we least expect it. Not because He’s forgotten about us, but because He’s teaching us to trust Him. He’s building our faith, removing our self-reliance, and preparing us for something greater than we could ever imagine.

So, what do we do while we wait?

We keep praying. Even when it feels like nothing is changing, we keep lifting our needs to Him. He hears every prayer, and He’s working behind the scenes in ways we can’t see.

We stay faithful. We keep doing what He’s called us to do—serving, loving, and trusting—even when it’s hard. Galatians 6:9 reminds us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

We watch for His movement. God often answers in unexpected ways—through a conversation, a stranger, or an open door we didn’t even know existed.

And we prepare to receive the answer, even before we see it. Faith isn’t just believing that God can do something—it’s believing that He will.

So today, if you’re feeling discouraged, take heart. God is not late. He’s not ignoring you. He’s working, even now. And when He shows up—and He will—you’ll look back and see that His timing was perfect all along.

When you least expect it, expect Him.

Prayer:
Father, I thank You that You are the God of perfect timing. I confess that sometimes I get impatient and discouraged when I don’t see answers to my prayers. Forgive me for doubting Your plan. Help me to trust You more, to stay faithful, and to keep my eyes open for the ways You’re moving in my life. Thank You for always showing up, even when I least expect it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflect:

  • What’s one prayer you’ve been waiting on God to answer?
  • How has God shown up in unexpected ways in your life before?
  • What can you do today to stay faithful and trust His timing?
