“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”— 1 John 4:16
Morning Reflection
We live in a world that rewards the chase. Hustle harder. Do more. Be more. Earn your worth. But the love our souls crave isn’t found at the finish line of our striving. It’s not waiting for us to achieve something or prove ourselves worthy.
Agape — God’s love — is not what you chase. It’s what you carry when you stop chasing everything else.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 5:5 that this love is poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. It’s not a love we can manufacture, earn, or hustle for. It’s a gift freely given, spilling over in abundance, waiting for us to stop and receive it.
Today, as you begin your day, pause for a moment. Take a deep breath. Let the noise of the world fade into the background. And ask yourself: What am I chasing today? Approval? Productivity? Belonging?
Then ask God to help you stop. To help you remember that you are already carrying the one thing you need most — His love. A love that isn’t impressed by your busyness or dependent on your performance. A love that simply is.
Midday Prayer
Lord,
I confess that I am often chasing things that cannot satisfy me. I run after approval, success, and validation, hoping they will fill the empty places in my heart. But You remind me that Your love is not something I have to earn. It is a gift You have already given me.
Help me to stop chasing. Help me to rest in the truth that Your agape love is enough. Teach me to live today not from a place of striving, but from a place of being loved by You.
Amen.
Afternoon Reflection: A Love That Stops
“Jesus stopped and called them. ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ he asked.”
— Matthew 20:32
Jesus was never in a hurry. He stopped for the blind men on the roadside. He stopped for the woman who touched His garment. He stopped for children when others tried to turn them away.
What would it look like for you to stop today?
Maybe it’s pausing to look someone in the eyes and really listen to them. Maybe it’s setting aside your phone during lunch to be fully present with your family or coworkers. Maybe it’s taking a moment to thank God for the ways His love has already shown up in your life today.
Agape is not a love that rushes. It’s a love that lingers. It’s a love that chooses to be present.
Evening Reflection: The Love You Carry
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:4–7
As you close out your day, take a moment to reflect on the love you carried with you today.
Did you feel the pressure to perform, to impress, or to prove your worth? Did you find yourself chasing after something that left you weary instead of whole? Or did you find moments to stop, to rest, and to live in the truth that God’s love is already yours?
Agape is not a love you have to hustle for. It’s not a love that keeps score. It’s a love that always protects, always trusts, and always perseveres.
Take another deep breath. Release the weight of everything you feel like you didn’t accomplish today. And thank God for the love that doesn’t depend on what you do, but on who He is.
A Prayer to End the Day
Father,
Thank You for loving me with a love that never fails. Thank You for reminding me that I don’t have to chase after things that leave me empty.
Help me to live in Your love. Help me to stop when the world tells me to run. Help me to carry Your agape into every relationship, every task, every moment.
As I lay down to rest tonight, I surrender my striving to You. I trust that Your love is enough.
Amen.
