I’m Tired of Waiting Too
And God Already Knows It
Let’s just be honest for a second—not the kind of “church honest” where you slap on a smile and say, “I’m fine, God is good.” I mean actually honest.
Some of you are tired. And not the “I need a nap” kind of tired. I’m talking about the deep-down, bone-weary, soul-level exhaustion that comes from waiting. Waiting for something you’ve been praying for, hoping for, believing for—maybe for years—and still, it hasn’t happened.
And then someone chirps, “Just have faith!” or “God’s timing is perfect!” or “Keep waiting!” and you want to scream. Because, honestly, you’ve heard it all before, and it doesn’t make the waiting any easier.
Guess what? That’s okay. You’re allowed to feel that way.
You’re Not the First
You’re not the first person to feel like this. You’re not the first to wonder if God’s forgotten you.
David, the man after God’s own heart, wrote the Psalms—those beautiful, poetic, worshipful songs we all love. But he also wrote this:
“How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?”
— Psalm 13:1
That’s not a man overflowing with patience. That’s a man hanging by a thread, crying out to God anyway.
Job? He didn’t just lose everything—he sat in the wreckage for a long time. His friends kept telling him to trust, to wait, to have faith. Job’s response? “I hear you, but seriously, where is God in all of this?”
And then there’s Jesus. On the cross. On Good Friday. Crying out:
“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
— Matthew 27:46
If Jesus Himself could say that, then you can say it too.
What Tired Faith Actually Looks Like
Tired faith doesn’t look like certainty. It doesn’t look like a plastered-on smile. It doesn’t look like the person in church who always has the perfect Bible verse ready to go.
Tired faith looks like showing up anyway.
It’s praying when you don’t feel like it.
It’s opening your Bible when the words feel like they’re written in another language.
It’s dragging yourself out of bed one more time, even though nothing seems to have changed.
That’s not weak faith. That’s some of the strongest faith there is.
The Bottom Line
God isn’t surprised by your exhaustion. He’s not disappointed in your frustration. He’s not waiting for you to put on a performance of patience before He shows up.
He already knows. He already sees. He already cares.
You don’t have to fake it. You don’t have to pretend the waiting is easy. You don’t have to act like you’ve got it all together.
You just have to stay.
And if all you’ve got today is, “God, I’m tired, and I don’t understand,” that’s enough.
That’s still faith.
That still counts.
He hears it.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
